Overcome the art, studio and creativity issues that artists face

CREATE ANYWAY Sessions
May 18 - 22

  • Creating during COVID

  • Making art as an act of kindness toward and for yourself

  • Reducing self-judgment

  • Dissolving worry over the judgment of others

  • Creating more confidence

Artist, teacher, coach and mentor David Limrite along with Master Life Coach C. Jordan Blaquera will lead daily conversations on the above topics so you can be a better, more productive artist and accept the difficulties, distractions and obligations of everyday life and create anyway.

Connect and experience the community & camaraderie we are all craving right now.

During David’s last week-long program, artists said this about the daily connection amidst this pandemic:

  • It is the perfect way to spend the quarantine.

  • It was so nice to have something to look forward to in the troubling times!

  • Thank you David for inspiring us while we shelter in place. This was a wonderful, bright time of sharing, and so educational.

  • I’d just started going to an open studio day on Mondays and then came social distancing. This is like a breath of fresh air.

The CREATE ANYWAY Sessions will be no different.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How will I be able to participate in the discussions?

As a participant, you can virtually “raise your hand” which will allow us to speak to each other. The discussion will be moderated in an orderly fashion.

2. Do I have to attend every session?

No. You may come to as many live sessions as you can. There will be recorded playbacks for all of the discussions. Your enrollment fee covers all five sessions as well as access to the recording replays for at least 30 days.

3. Do I have to participate in the discussions or can I just watch and listen?

You do not have to participate, but we encourage you to do so. Of course, you can watch, learn and be entertained. You still have to sign up in order to have access to the discussions. However, by Day 3, you may not be able to help yourself and will want to join in on the exchange.

4.  How will I be able to watch and listen to the discussions?

The sessions will be broadcast on Zoom. We will send you an email the morning of the discussion with a link that will allow you access to the Create Anyway meeting room.

You will also receive access to the recorded playbacks so that you can watch them when it is convenient for you. This access will be available for at least 30 days after the end of the program.

5. Will everyone who wants to talk have a chance to do so?

Probably not during every session. In order to give everyone a chance to participate, we may have to give priority, in each day’s new session, to people who have not had a chance talk yet. Our hope is to give every participant (who wants to) a chance to participate at some point in the 5 days of discussions. Keep in mind that it is likely that every enrolled participant will not be present on every day and that not everyone will want to participate on each day.

6. Do I have to show up live?

Yes & No.

Yes, if you want to participate in the discussions.

No, if you are not planning on participating in the live. discussion

For at least 30 days after the end of the program, all recordings will be available to watch at whatever time is more convenient for you.

7. Does my face have to be shown on video?

No. It is your choice. You may share your video camera or not.

8. What are the days and times of the CREATE ANYWAY Sessions?

May 18 - 22, Monday - Friday, 11am PT each day.

9. How long will each session be?

Each session will be 30 minutes. Give or take.

10. What is the cost to attend the CREATE ANYWAY Sessions?

$15 for the entire week, including all 5 sessions. This is the cost whether you are participating or just watching and listening.

Considering taking the Create Anyway Sessions:

I would say join for these reasons:

Connectedness, inspiration, learn forgotten lessons, and most important, learn how to ‘Manage your Mind.’

I encourage anyone and everyone to participate in David’s online sessions, no matter what their skill or confidence level.

Everyone can benefit from his positive coaching, insightful comments, and lessons he’s learned from experience.

David offers practical suggestions to help participants overcome common obstacles we feel when we want to create art and feel stuck. Best of all, he sprinkles humor and genuine kindness through the sessions, leaving everyone happy and ready to go find their muse!

What artists are saying about the Create Anyway Sessions:

{David is] definitely one of the most influential mentors in my life.

Looking forward to the discussion group...it helps to know one is not alone...in these matters.

Thanks for having [these] Create Anyway Sessions next week. I am looking very much forward to it. It is great that you always tune in with our artist community needs.

Your blogs are very helpful too. Thanks for putting so much thought  and encouragement into them.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and love of art and for providing a variety of resources for us. Your generosity and support are a source of inspiration!

I’m so glad to be in good company because all of the comments from everyone seem to be exactly what I’m dealing with also.

Thanks for asking David, and for bringing us together once again, through our love of art.

Got some very helpful tips from today’s “Create Anyway” session.
Thank you. Looking forward to tomorrow’s discussion. And looking forward to reading your book later in the year!👍😊

Today was very helpful! Not just with my question but also David’s responses to others. I look forward to rest of the week.

Thanks! I’m enjoying this so much!

These sessions are so helpful. Inspiring and stimulating.

This week’s topics are changing my mindset.  This morning, as another artist was speaking, she articulated EXACTLY what I am thinking and doing - as I put off creating.  David’s comments, questions and suggestions are truly helpful; his advice has shown me a different approach to creativity.

The key was to change the self-messaging… Nothing is precious, nothing is wasted. Everything is learning. Approach with abandon and joy. Yay! Thanks for the key! I have a better narrative. Thinking differently is crucial.

Takeaway from today: I’m going to look at the “big” project I’ve been avoiding as a practice piece (sculpture version of the “small” pieces David suggested to painters). And as a learning adventure so if it doesn’t come out wonderfully it won’t be a failure but a step on the way. Really helpful talk.

Today’s take away for me was that when a project seems scary, it’s probably an important project! Also, I’d never thought about fear just coming with the territory of being an artist.

I’m really enjoying these sessions!  It’s reassuring to know that everyone struggles with similar issues. Can’t wait for the book to be published!

I had a friend sign up also… She has had two tumors removed from her brain, 💗 a cancer survivor! I'm so proud of her - she is a wonderful artist and has not painted in a while so I've encouraged her to try this. 💃

Thanks so much for these valuable suggestions on how to overcome obstacles in painting.

I'm loving the Create Anyway sessions. Even after the day one I felt more excited and motivated to create! Yesterday, I picked up a painting I started months ago and felt "stuck" on. I chose the color and brush I felt drawn to and just went for it. The painting is now nearing completion, but more importantly, I am having so much FUN.  David's suggestions today were also very helpful...start with small pieces, and focus on the process rather than the outcome. Grateful to you both and looking forward to the next 3 sessions!

I love what David has to teach and say and would love to hear more from him on the topics.

I think it’s very supportive and helpful. Comforting too. So thank you, I appreciate your thoughtfulness and expertise.

I’m getting lots of good information and suggestions. Something from each of your conversations with other artists. I can relate to it all. I’m writing down all of your bits of advice so I can start tapping into it as needed. You always seem to come up with something that resonates with the artist and me as well. I have lots of ideas from you now, and more to come, as to what I can do to start painting.

These are so very great on so many levels. Your words ring true to my ear. These talks have been really wonderful and I thank you both for making it happen. I'm looking forward to the rest of the week.

These sessions remind me to ‘manage my mind’ — your words from the Critique [Week] series. I believe that art making, and life in general, is all mental...with a good dose of heart. Thank you so much.

I love your energy, David. Thank you so much for being a beacon of light on my journey back to painting. …I’m delighted to be in "Create Anyway" and appreciate your generosity and support. Yesterday I stopped procrastinating and ordered new supplies.

I sincerely appreciate your insights, empathy and teaching style… Your sincerity and transparency make you very approachable -- something very rare!

I have heard about you for years.  Now I know why.  I am a quilt maker and it all applies to us as well.

Every topic you have discussed this week has hit the nail on the head. It is amazing to me that as artists we are so similar in our concerns and worries and also in the kinds of joy we find in creating. Thank you for very deftly putting this thought provoking and exciting week together. Extraordinary teaching on your part!

Another great session! It was really good pinpointing that the largest part of my perfectionism shows up as procrastination before I start a project. …Knowing that’s what’s in the way of my “real” projects will get me going on them. Thank you!!

I just love the positive messages [David] sends out to help us counter all the defeating self-talk. It is very freeing and exciting to see what might come of it if we simply experiment, play, try...practice. This week is helping me get some perspective I needed!

This has been an incredible encouragement. Your transparency, wisdom and encouragement is truly valued.

These last two sessions that you have run are really an inspiration and an encouragement! There is something wonderful about having a coach speak to  you in the morning and then you have the time to get up and go and WORK!!

I painted right after we ended the Zoom session today...for a couple of hours. I had not been motivated to paint for many (many, many) months. Comparing a painting today with an old one I had put away was like night and day. All the positive energy from these sessions came out in a small painting...and the way I LOOK at that painting is 180 degrees different from my old internal voice. What a gift you two gave all of us. Thank you! 🙏 I can’t quite express how grateful I am!

I found the sessions and the format with other artist very helpful. Will you be doing more?

Remember me...the techie who is discovering the other side of her brain. I took many things away from your class but if I pick one it would be: THINGS ARE NOT NEW AND PERFECT AT THE SAME TIME.

Thank you so much for a beautiful couple of art-filled weeks. It got me painting again and really enjoying my time in the studio! And making connections with you and all the other creatives out there.
