Increase Your Willingness

“I feel ever so strongly that an artist must be nourished by his passions and his despairs. These things alter an artist whether for the good or the better or the worse. It must alter him.”
Francis Bacon, Artist

Increase Your Willingness

One of the main things that helps me move my art forward is “willingness”.

Being willing to try.

Regardless of everything else that may be going on in my life.

Willingness helps me overpower fear, doubt and procrastination.

Willingness can “right the ship” if a painting session suddenly goes awry.

Willingness can inspire me when I don’t know what to do next to my painting in progress.

Willingness is my key to building, gaining, and maintaining momentum.

If I am at least willing to try something, I give myself a fighting chance to succeed, and most certainly learn something in the process.

Willingness does not guarantee success, but it does move me forward.

Being “willing to try” can be empowering and give you inner strength.

Increase you willingness and see what happens to you and your art making.

Best,

David

After a recent Create Anyway Collective session, one CAC artist was inspired to share:

Listening to [a peer artist} is allowing me to tap into [my own] inner confidence and strength. I never realized how much connection I have to embrace my own strength by witnessing someone else's. There's something gracious and fine about seeing someone wrangle their emotions and overcome that brings me to the door of being able to grapple with my own and know that I to can open that door.

Thank you, David and Jordan!
