I'm Not Ready

Only let a man say that he will do something and a whole mechanism goes to work to stop him.

John Steinbeck, Author

I’m Not Ready

Whenever I hear myself say, “I’m not ready,” I don’t believe it anymore, and I have learned not to trust it.

“I’m not ready” means “I don’t want to,” or “I’m not willing,” or “I’m afraid to try.”

“I’m not ready” is just a comfortable excuse that sounds "true," and safely lets me off the hook. It’s an easy way out.

However, “I’m not ready” actually sets me back, while at the same time prevents me from propelling my art forward.

Be on the lookout for, “I’m not ready.”

How about, “I’m willing to try,” instead.

That’s the one that works better for me.

Best,

David

I am eternally grateful to you two for creating a Create Anyway Collective; a safe container for art and exploration. You two hit it out of the park! I feel more confident, more directed, less fearful and much less judgmental of all things art and non-art. Thank you thank you!
